Vitamin supplements

A 1995 report showed cancer cells with presence of Vitamin C. Studies of cancer patients who took supplements like Vitamins E and C was found to increase their risk of developing second cancer and lowers their own survival rates. The American Cancer Society discouraged the use of vitamins and supplements during cancer treatments. This is new for me alright. So I advice it would be wise to go fruit and veggie diet instead.

Most luxurious train: From China to Tibet

China is planning to launch a train that will run from Beijing to Tibet’s capital Lhasa. The operation is said to begin on September 1 this year. But the fare is 20x more expensive than the ordinary fare. It was said that the interior will equate to that of a five star hotel. If this will hold true, then it will gain the fame as the most luxurious train in the world. The train may only take 96 passengers at a time. They plan to have 3 trains that will alternately take the trip of 5 days to Lhasa every 8 days. The plan may be a good tourist attraction for those who want to see devastated Tibet. The influx of tourist and other foreigners will most likely accelerate culture change in the region.

Finding the cure for cancer

I have read this post regarding a student who raced to find the cure for his cancer. He has chordoma and he personally do his own work finding its cure. He works at the lab for 30 hours a week. He created the Chordoma Foundation and raised $300,000 for the research. The goal was to reach $3 milion by 2009. He also started a national bio bank to collect chordoma tumors and harvest, grow and study its cells. The first chordoma conference was stage at Maryland where 53 scientist around the world share information and resources to fight the disease.

I can see that people have different initiatives and courses of action when their lives are at stake. My lymphangioma is benign but the roots has every potential to grow back. I was hoping it won’t so I prayed. But I was not thinking of prolonging my life. The case for me is to prepare my children when I am gone or when that time will come. I am studying on how to give them virtual work. Teaching my kids to be a good writer while making research on the most available opportunity the VA business could take a leap for the family. I was not thinking of myself. I was prepared to make the sacrifice but I need to set up a business for the children online. You know how things are when they lose a mother and I was more afraid for what will happen to them than what will happen to me.

We only see the urgency when the thing is already there. But it is a good start for people to get aware of the disease also. Expect the unexpected and never let depression defeat you. Take your leap, get your energy to finding what is best for you and your family.

Super internet speed

Japan launched a rcket that promises to deliver super high internet service to homes and business worldwide. The rocket carried the WINDS satellite. It was a joint project of Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. Satellite was said to offer speeds of up to 1.2 gigabytes per second. The service initially will focus on Asia Pacific regiion close to Japan. Subscribers may connect to the internet on small dishes at speeds many times faster than cable or DSL.

This is good news for me. This is really great. I hope we can avail of this soon. I get tired of waiting for the net to upload. I was really longing for speedy servers or whatever. Hope to have a super speed connection that will upload pages in the blink of an eye. I could get on with my research faster this way.

killing his parents

An adopted high school senior paid hit men $260 dollars and three handguns to kill his adoptive parents. He thought they were too strict and wanted to inherit money. He also gave his parent’s ATM card, the pin number and the security code of their house. Teens needed to know that parents implement discipline for their own good. Never regret the love of your parents. When their gone you wouldn’t be able to find another love like theirs.

Robots becoming humans in skin sensitivity

Researchers are working on to create robots with soft sensitive skins that may be able to feel pain and pressure. Creating a robotic skin that is pressure sensing and temperature sensing results to a kind of artificial skin that is able to detect both properties simultaneously. They used transistors used in the circuits and semiconductors made of organic materials based on chains of carbon atoms. This enables robots to feel a little bit more human.

Western diet, a health risk

Typical Western diet of burgers, fries and diet soda increased your risk for diabetes and heart disease. Two burger patties a day and one diet soda daily boost the risk of getting metabolic syndrome. Metabolic syndrome increases the risk of diabetes and heart disease. Large waistline, elevated blood pressure, elevated fasting blood sugar, elevated fasting triglycerides and reduced levels of HDL good cholesterol are some of the criterias of metabolic syndrome.

Those who eat 2 or more servings of meat a day or about two burger patties boosted their risk by 26% than those who eat meat twice a week. Diet soda of one can a day increased your risk by 34%. Fried foods also boosted the risk of getting metabolic syndrome at 25% higher than those who eat less. People who have the tendency to be overweight drink diet soda.

Let’s change a little of our eating habits. When you drink diet soda please don’t order large fries or the effect would still be the same. At fast foods order a baked potato, water and grilled fish. And try to cook in more gentle forms like steaming. Limit consumption of processed food and fast foods. Water is still the best way to satiate thirst.

dead guy cashing check

Two men wheeled a dead guy to his usual check-cashing store and attempted to encash his SSS check. The body was left outside while they were attempting to encash the check. Meanwhile crowd gathered around the dead guy which caught the attention of a detective having lunch nearby. The two were captured right on the scene. They were not charged with murder of course because the medical examiner’s report said that the death was of natural causes within the previous 24 hours. There are better ways to make money than cashing a dead man’s check. But these guys just can’t get the $355 dollars off their mind so they wheeled a dead man to try to benefit from it.

dark secrets revealed

Baby bones were found inside a dead woman’s suitcase when her children were cleaning the house. They did not recognize the suitcase to belong to their mother but the clothes inside definitely belongs to her. A forensic pathologist was asked to perform some test to determine the infant’s gender and other details of the death. When we clean belongings of the dead, we just don’t know what we’ll find so keep your phone handy for help.

Working with people, diversity issues

Diversity issues are practically all about building relationships and people variety. Managing diversity is certainly about acceptance and respect to individuality, belief and dignity in a supported and valued working environment. The challenge lies on how management leads to value these differences. In an organization people with different work ethics, education, and communication styles work together complementing each other skills and practices.

Americans follow specific duties and responsibilities, Filipinos love to do extra work for extra pay. So if Americans will go home, Filipinos may extend and do overtime. Japanese is superb in using the Kaizen method. Some Asians do not practice brainstorming but love to innovate. Their teamwork and dedication will complement each other during sessions on product innovation and design. A person’s perception and response is dependent on values and experience. Words may differ in meaning like lift in the Philippines literally means carrying an object while lift in Australia means elevator.

Comfort room in the Philippines means restroom in US. Terminologies contribute to communication success or failure. It is the measure of how patient one unlocks the meaning and learns to interpret nonverbal language that starts the meltdown process of diminishing differences from continuous exposure. People are not ready to abandon cultural heritage. They all have basic learned and inborn abilities that they bring into each environment. Workplace diversity means learning from others who are different from our mainstream and capturing the advantages of these diverse perspectives in the process. It is all about people, knowing people, and learning from people with respect and dignity.

VA services

Virtual Assistants have a long list of services that he may be able to perform. The most common are data entry, transcription, maintaining blogs, article writing, academic essay writing, email management, calendar management, and research. These things you don’t need much skill. A fast internet connection and a good computer may suffice to let you start working at home.

Skills can be attained while you are making progress at this new business. As long as you have the motivation to work and to learn at the same time you may be able to generate a few income to survive first few stages. Later when they feel your honesty and see that you are dedicated then you will begin to have repeat assignments. This time they will form part of your customer database.

Always understand that working as a Virtual Assistant means submitting reports or papers on time  as specified in the agreed deadline. This is very critical because this portrays reliability. So if you think you won’t be able to complete work on time, never fail to inform your customer ahead of deadline. Newbies do make mistakes at the start but you as you progress you will learn how to select and complete work in your own pace. Just remember never to accept work that you will not be able to complete or you will lose that customer forever.

How to become a VA?

Becoming a Virtual Assistant is not an easy task. You need to know your skills and you have to detemine which in the list of VA services will you be able to do and complete on or before deadline. Remember the quality of the work and the deadline is very important to become one reliable VA. If you have the talent for writing you can very well do the task of a Freelance Writer like writing an academic essay, articles and website content.

Next, you have to consider the equipment that you will be using. A computer even if a second hand one is fine provided that you have an internet connection. Broadband is preferable if you plan to do data entry assignments. A printer with a scanner is preferable too because you will be needing it later when you assist enterpreneurs. If you plan to accept transcription services, buy a foot pedal at www.nch.com.au. The software for the express scribe is already free and you will be able to install it with the help of a technician but if you are a tech person, you may do the installation yourself.

Then next, try to look for a free website hosting at first. The website will be like a calling card. It is where you advertise yourself and it is where people will find you. My first website was at www.freewebs.com. They offer a lot of tools and help for the newbies. I can laugh at my first website when I take a look at it now. Everything were all pictures with small notes looking like a photo album. You may purchase a domain and select another web hosting later when you are already earning.

Remember becoming a VA does not mean continuous income. Customers come and assignments end. you might want to try it as a part time work at first just to get your customer base. If you do your work well you will have repeat orders. Of course for people with health conditions like low back pain or slight stroke conditions but are still capable of tapping those keyboards, they may still declare independence and do a VA work.

The skills can be learned so don’t get frustrated. Know the microsoft bundle, excel, outlook, word, powerpoint and you can very well start working as one. Always be deadline conscious. There are days when we get a lot of customers and we want to have it all. Please don’t do that. Only work with the ones that you can manage and complete on deadline otherwise your quality of work will suffer and that customer won’t give you any assignments again. Take care of your customers businesses like it is your own. Sometimes when we do our research we come across with contents that they might need so give them information it won’t hurt your time to do extra work to support them. I always do that and they appreciate the info.

There are a lot of VAs but what they are looking are dependability and attitude. Love your work and be flexible with the customers needs. Later you will realize that being a VA would refer to five things: skill, deadline, quality, attitude, and availability. Practice these things and you will have a good customer base. Always think of how you can serve the customer well and they will keep coming back for your services.
